Predictive value of hCG level 14 days after embryo transfer.
With my son my doubling time was 62 hours early on. After hcg gets to it tends to slow down and hours is normal for doubling time and you're still under that so your numbers look great! That's what I've read, I just see so many women with continuous double time at 48 hrs so it worries me! I've had a miscarriage with my first ivf so I'm on edge! Thanks so much for your encouragement.
Only 1 hb visible. Going back in a few days to confirm but appears 2nd sac will be VTS. Post Cancel. I just went in today, 10dp6dt of a pgs tested blast, and my beta was at I had been testing with frer and the line was getting progressively darker so I was expecting a higher HCG level. I'm pretty down about it because I've had a chemical and have miscarried in the past and the HCG levels were low with the chemical and started low with the miscarriage that was a blighted ovum.
The only time my HCG levels were on track was when I had a missed miscarriage because of triploidy. I go back Wednesday and Friday to see if the numbers double. I feel like I've been on this roller coaster so many times that it's hard for me to keep positive with this HCG level, but at the sane time, it's worse to give up hope completely Thank you! The HCG rose to today, we are ecstatic for now and keeping all our fingers and toes crossed for Friday's test!
Sorry your going through this : I remember my doctor saying it doesn't matter if they are low as long as they double! Keeping you in my prayers! Let us know how today goes! You've been through so much, I'm sure it's nerve wracking. Wishing you only good news on the repeat betas. Try to stay positive. I'm so sorry to hear that.

Enjoy your BFP!You've seen a fertility specialist, started IVF, and gotten through the first embryo transfer. You've spent a long time waiting for good news. And finally you get it! The results of your pregnancy test, which measures hCG level, are positive.
Here's what we can tell you about how hCG levels relate to a successful pregnancy. First some basics. Human chorionic gonadotropin hCG is a hormone that is released by the human embryo after conception. At that point, a pregnancy should be visualized in the uterine cavity using a transvaginal ultrasound.
In patients that are having biochemical pregnancies, miscarriages or tubal pregnancies, the levels will not rise appropriately.
It is therefore important that you keep your follow-up monitoring visits and continue your medications until you are instructed not to do so by your physician. So, what is a good first hCG level after embryo transfer?Lg m154 specs
This very question was addressed by a group from Finland Poikkeus P. Hum Reprod ; They analyzed a total of embryo transfers from — Embryo transfer was carried out 2 days after retrieval and the first pregnancy test was scheduled 12 days later 14 days after retrieval.
Here is what they found:. It is important NOT to take these numbers literally. There are many variables that can affect hCG values, including the assay that is being used.
These numbers are specific to the assay the researchers used solid phase, two-site fluroimmunometric assay calibrated against the WHO Third International Standard of hCG for immunoassay. Also, the day you have your embryo transferred matters, too.

Many methods to predict the outcome of pregnancies achieved after assisted reproductive technology ART has been tested. Prediction of pregnancy outcome is important in an assisted reproductive technology program. Pregnancy obtained through IVF with or without ICSI have a higher risk of obstetric and perinatal complications compared with spontaneous pregnancies.
The non-viable pregnancy is defined as a biochemical pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. Ongoing pregnancy is defined as a single pregnancy and multiple pregnancies, which reached more than a gestational age of 12 weeks. Kartha I. M, Putra I. M, Mandini I. I, Dwipayana I. Human embryos can produce hCG as early as 8 days after fertilization. During IVF, however, final egg maturation is triggered by an hCG injection generally 10, units given approximately 36 hours prior to egg retrieval, increasing hCG levels in the patient's body. It takes approximately 14 days for the hCG from the trigger shot to be cleared metabolized.
Prior to 14 days, it is not possible to differentiate between hCG from the trigger shot and hCG from the embryo. It is for this reason that most IVF programs will do a first pregnancy test approximately 15 days after the hCG trigger injection or 13 days after egg retrieval.
These questions were addressed by a group of researchers, Zhang, et al. Here is what they found:. They analyzed transfers of fresh embryos that were performed over a three- year period. Day 3 transfers produced higher hCG levels for both singleton and twin pregnancies compared with day 5 transfers see Table above. It is possible that the difference in hCG levels was due to early post-implantation losses.
They therefore further analyzed hCG levels in twin pregnancies established by transferring only 2 embryos see Table above. Once again, day 3 transfers resulted in higher hCG levels on both tests. Early subclinical pregnancy losses could be a possible explanation. Gender bias was also discussed as a possible mechanism — there were more males in the blastocyst group. It is also possible that the additional 2 days of culture in the laboratory might directly and adversely affect the normal development of the embryos, resulting in subtle delay or reduction in hCG production.
The hCG levels above are only guidelines. There are always exceptions to the rule. This is why, even if the hCG levels are low it is important to continue the medications and keep follow up monitoring appointments. IVF Early pregnancy Multiple pregnancy. But after a few moments of celebration, you descend back to earth. Will this pregnancy stick? You have entered a new, more hopeful limbo than the much bemoaned two-week wait. We all know that miscarriage is very commonespecially early in pregnancy. And for most women, good info about viability does not come until the first ultrasound, usually performed at weeks.
Undergoing fertility treatments is less fun than a hangover. Embryos produce hCG once they implant. During the first trimester, blood levels of HCG rises quickly. They usually double every 48 hours, until reaching a peak around 20 weeks.
After this peak, they begin a slow decline. The level of hCG in your blood predicts your chances of an ongoing pregnancy —which researchers usually define as one that lasts through the first weeks. The table below summarizes findings from several IVF-based studies which tracked pregnancy outcomes by hCG levels. Note: The numbers below only apply to singleton pregnancies. Twin pregnancies typically have much higher hCG levels, and therefore these thresholds may not apply.
When comparing your test results, pay close attention to the post-retrieval or post-transfer date listed in the Day tested column. Some studies report by day from egg retrieval post retrieval. Others report from day after blastocyst or embryo transfer post transfer.
HCG rises rapidly in early pregnancy, so whether a specific beta is a positive or negative signs depends on precisely when hCG was measured. The hCG threshold for likely viability rises with each day. If your betas are above the numbers listed in the table above, congratulations! Your pregnancy has a very high chance of continuing through the first trimester. What if your hCG is below those in the above table? Because hCG levels vary a lot from pregnancy to pregnancy, there is no strict cutoff for determining viability.
What does often indicate an impending miscarriage, however, are hCG levels that fail to double every 48 hours or that drop over time. This nearly always indicates a failing pregnancy. It can also indicate an ectopic pregnancy—an pregnancy that has implanted somewhere other than the uterus. One final caveat: All of the above studies involved women undergoing IVF. We cannot say whether these numbers apply to women undergoing IUI or who conceived naturally.
